Year 11 maths
On Wednesday, Year 11 received their mock maths examination results. Presented to them in brown envelopes – in an effort to replicate the results process as accurately as we do with the examinations that they take in summer. As you would expect, some were delighted, some disappointed. On the whole most students had made a significant step forward in only a few weeks. Year 11 were also presented with some key messages: that it was not too late to make a difference to the outcome of the ‘real’ exams, that we are there to support them, and that parents and their peers were also a source of support.
The signs are very positive for our Year 11's. They are an amazing year group, full of commitment and energy. They are even more full of potential to succeed. I hope that every single one of them fulfils it.
I am delighted to share with you that our attendance is now above the national average figure of 95%. This is a fantastic effort and the improvement has been significant in a very short period of time. Many thanks for your continued support with this. I would also like to take the opportunity to say well done to the students who have made this improvement happen.
Post 16 day
I was delighted to welcome our Post 16 partners into the Academy last week for this annual event that is organised for all Y10 and Y11 students. At Manor Croft Academy we are committed to providing an effective careers education programme to enable our students to make the best well informed choices about their future education and career paths.
It was a fantastic event and I would like to thank our partners for the excellent information and advice that was shared.
As you will be aware the expectation is that all of our students now have a reading book in school at all times. It has been a pleasure to go around lessons over the last week and speak to students about the books that they are reading. Some students are now even showing me that they are on their third book which is fantastic.
