A Great Start to the New Term

26th September 2016

I would like to thank all students, parents, carers and staff for making this a very successful start to the academic year and welcoming me into my new role as Principal.  As we met students at the ‘blue line’ on the first day of term I was struck by how smart the pupils looked.  I have also been really impressed with how engaged they have been in their learning.  The new behaviour policy is having a really positive impact and feedback from students and staff is that they feel it is having an impact on learning and progress.  The Year 7 students have settled in quickly and their energy and positivity is creating a buzz around the Academy.

Open Evening

You may have picked up from the website that we ran a ‘space’ themed Open day and Evening for our local primary school children.  This was the first time that we have run this themed day and it was a real success.  We had a 10m SkyBolt Rocket on show in the main car park and propulsion lab showing students how rockets are fired into space.  We also hosted the Yorkshire Planetarium which included a flight into the outer galaxies!

I will be running tours of the school over the next few weeks if parents would like to see us in action.  I encourage you to have a look around.  We are sure that you will be impressed!

Thank you for your support.
