  • Internet Safety Day 2017

    On Tuesday 8th February Manor Croft Academy will be helping raise awareness of the importance of staying safe on the internet.  Students will be involved in activities during tutorial sessions on Tuesday 8th February to alert them to the risks and dangers of social networking sites and how to create safe profiles when using them.  Mr Audsley will be leading a series of assemblies for all year groups on the importance of using webcams safely.   • Pie and Peas Evening a great success!

    Year 11 shared the opening of their recent maths mock results with their parents/carers on Thursday evening.  They were given prizes depending on how sizeable their improvements were.  Most students have made amazing progress from the start of year 11.  Some students had improved by up to 70 marks from their previous mock result.  It was great to see so many parents/carers attend to share in their success, after the presentation everybody enjoyed tucking into some pie and peas.  Thanks Miss Barton and the m

Attendance is critical to a student's progress and wellbeing and at Manor Croft Academy, we want students to be successful in every way possible.   • Well Done Year 11

    27th January 2017

    Year 11 have worked tremendously hard this week attending intervention and one to one tutoring. They have also sat 3 full Maths mock exam papers and early indications suggest that there has been fantastic progress made from the November mock.  Students were treated to doughnuts in assembly in recognition of their hard work.  Maths results will be given out at the Pies and Peas evening on Thursday next week.

     

  • Success in Science!

    This week, Mr Nikoumaram delivered an assembly to praise the incredible progress that Year 11 students have made in Science since their last mock exams in November.  The most recent mock exams have seen a big leap forward and it is clear that everyone's hard work is paying off.  Around 60 students per week have been attending bespoke science revision sessions on a Friday at 2.30pm and this is clearly having a significant impact on results.  Well done to all the students and lets support them in keeping it g

  • Pie & Peas Event

    On Thursday 2nd February the Maths team will be hosting a ‘Pie & Peas’ night for all Year 11 students and their families. This will be a celebration of the hard work our students are currently undertaking within their Maths lessons and will also be an opportunity for families to ask any questions about the new Maths GCSE over an informal pie & peas meal!   • U14s Badminton Kirklees Finals

    26th January 2017

    Thursday 26th January saw the finals of the Kirklees Schools Badminton Championships held at Huddersfield Leisure Centre.  The Under 14 boys’ team had qualified in first place after the regional event the month before; and now they were up against the top teams in Kirklees.  Joe, Ben, Liam and Muhammad played in singles and doubles competitions against Shelley College, Whitcliffe Mount and North Huddersfield College.  After 3 close matches the team finished in third place and were presented with bronze meda

  • Orchard Academy Transition Sessions

    Over the last few months Year 6 pupils from The Orchard Academy have been attending Manor Croft Academy on Wednesday's to improve their ability and success in Maths and English.  This is part of Manor Croft's relentless drive to improve standards in the core areas, whilst also enabling students from one of our main feeder schools to experience life at high school, thus helping with their transition into Key Stage 3 later this year.

  • Year 7 and 8 Indoor Athletics

    The athletics season kicked off on the 17th January with the Kirklees Schools qualifiers at Batley Sports Centre. Three Manor Croft teams, Year 7 Boys and Year 8 Boys and Girls, qualified for the Kirklees finals on Tuesday, 7th February at the Barn on Leeds Road.  The students took part in track and field events and represented the Academy with pride and passion all afternoon.  Parents who came to support the event commented on how well behaved and organised the teams from MCA were on the day.  Although we

    Our Academy Principal Mr Barnett has this week been delivering assemblies to all year groups on British Values. Fundamental British values, including democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs, are also actively promoted in the Academy through the formal curriculum and through calendared events.

    The staff at Manor Croft treated all year groups to a stunning performance of Peter Pan on the final day of a very successful term.

  • Community Christmas Celebrations

    It has been a really busy day in the Academy with a number of events happening.  This morning we ran our Christmas Parents Consultation morning which was very positive.  We fed back on our actions from our last meeting and discussed some of the new initiatives that have been running.

    We then hosted The Kirklees Musika Band for a Christmas concert with Year 7.  This was attended by parents from the earlier meeting and our neighbours from Manor Croft Nursing Home.

  • 'The Witches' Trip

    As part of a unit celebrating the life of Roald Dahl, following what would have been his 100th birthday, seventy-four of our Year 7 students joined all of the excited teachers in the English Department to travel to The West Yorkshire Playhouse on Wednesday 14th December to view a theatre production of Roald Dahl’s ‘The Witches’.  It was a fantastic day out!

  • Year 11 Prefects Christmas Trip

    To reward our Year 11 Prefects for their hard work this year Mr Hewitt, Vice Principal and Mrs Frizzel, Key Stage 4 Learning Manager invited them all to the Red Hot World Buffet in Leeds on Wednesday afternoon.  The students who are ambassadors for the Academy perform duties to support the smooth running of the Academy during break and lunchtime everyday.  They thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and some even visited the buffet over 10 times!  Well done to all our prefects you are a credit to our Academy.
