  • The Future of Cooking.

    Many of our Year 11 catering students have finished their coursework and have completed the final practical’s. This year’s students have been particularly talented with their creativity around meal construction and nutritionally balanced menus. Their commitment has not just been towards their exams, throughout the year they have created cakes and buns for charity and school events.   • Sporting Success at Manor Croft Academy

    Manor Croft Academy has a number of sports stars who may well be making it to the big time. Our Year 7 Rugby team managed to secure the ‘Dennis Trotter Memorial Trophy’ as they recorded five out of five wins in the recent Kirklees competition.

    Continuing with the rugby theme we have two students Year 10 students; Josh Pinder and Joe Summers who have both secured two year scholarships with Wakefield Wildcats. They have both been playing up an age group for the past season and have so far been undefeated.

  • School Election

    11th May 2015

    Running up to the General Election, Manor Croft Academy held it’s own Student election to see which main stream party would secure the post within our Academy. Three teams of students represented the three main parties of Conservatives, Labour and the Liberal Democrats. The students were tasked with examining each party’s education policy outlined in their manifesto and running a campaign that mirrored these views.

    On General Election day each student went to the Academy’s polling station to cast their vote

  • Exam Season Starts

    10th May 2015

    Good luck to all our Year 11 students who have started their exams. The commitment and preparation from staff and students has been outstanding. Revision sessions have been running for the past three months, with students attending in high numbers to school holiday programmes and Saturday morning sessions. Results come with hard work and this is something that is not lacking from within the Academy.  Good luck everyone!

  • Roller Disco Reward Event

    30th April 2015

    As part of the reward system at Manor Croft Academy, we reward those students who are engaged with their learning and who show great progress throughout the year.

    Term two’s reward was to hire in a Roller Disco for the day. Students had the chance to be taken off timetable to enjoy one hour with their Year Leader celebrating their success over the last three months. The day was a resounding success for staff and student relationships.

  • Year 6 Tea Party

    23rd April 2015

    Each year Manor Croft Academy invites the parents of new Year 7 starters to the school for a tea party. This year over 120 people attended, and a lovely afternoon was enjoyed by all. Students and Parents had the chance to meet key members of staff and have the opportunity to arrange specialised transition programmes in order to  help reduce anxieties for students and even more so parents.

    Yesterday the Year 7 and Year 8 students were treated to a drama production that highlighted the need for young people to be aware of modern day distractions when crossing roads. With the increase in phone use, by either texting or listening to music, there is a serious danger that young people in the UK are being struck down in and around schools.   • Manor Croft Academy Student News Team Report

    Here at Manor Croft Academy we have recently established a News Team, made up of Year 7 and 8 students. Our aim is to participate in the BBC Schools New Report this year on Thursday 19th March.

    Our club runs every Tuesday during lunchtime in the library. At the present time we are developing are skills in preparation, learning how to select newsworthy items, conduct interviews as well as editing and publish news reports.

  • Transition Thursday’s

    The Academy would like to thank the Junior schools of Chickenley, Eastborough, Bywell and Hanging Heaton for promoting the ‘Transition Thursday’ taster lessons to their students. Last week we had our largest turn out yet to work in Science. Over 55 students attended the session where they were building towers with spaghetti and marshmallows. The activities take place all year with experiences available for all of our academic areas.

     Mrs McHugh has been appointed the Chair of the PTA at Manor Croft Academy. There will be close ties with the student Leaders to ensure that the PTA can help the students achieve their goals for the remainder of the year. The PTA are an essential group that help the school progress by offering a parents view towards activities conducted by the Academy while helping out on events evenings and fund raising schemes.
