  • Manor Croft Academy Reward Trip

    This term the Manor Croft reward trip involved 160 students who visited Hollywood Bowl and Vue Cinema in Kirkstall. Most students managed to creep over 60 points for their bowling score, however there did seem to be a lot of assistance as the barriers were raised, preventing the ball from going dead!   • Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch

    The annual Christmas party for Senior Citizens will be taking place in the final week of term at Manor Croft Academy. The event is designed to allow the local community to come together for an afternoon of entertainment. This Year’s performance is provided by the Kirklees Orchestra who will be performing festive songs for everyone to get involved with. Once the show is over the attendees will be eating lunch and partaking in a few games of bingo where the Principal, Ms Clacy will be calling out the numbers.

    In November 2014, Manor Croft Academy PE Teacher, Tom Wallis made the 6,000mile trip to Canelones in Uruguay to represent England at the Roller Hockey World Group ‘B’ Championships. He was selected in a squad of 10 players from all over the UK to compete in the competition held every 2years, with a main goal of gaining promotion to the World Group ‘A’ Championships in France in June 2015.     Well done to all those students who participated in the Junior School Indoor Athletic competition this afternoon. Bywell, Chickenley and Hanging Heaton were fighting it out to see which school would represent the North of Kirklees later on in the academic year. Whichever school turns out to be the winner, Manor Croft Academy wishes them luck in representing our North Kirklees area in the final.

  • SPTA 'Let's Get Lost Art's' Festival

    A selection of our finest Drama and Music students embarked on a weekend of performance in Doncaster.

    The weekend was called the ‘Let’s Get Lost’ dedicated to the Art’s and involved a number of SPTA schools. The students rotated through workshops during the day which all built up to evening performances with a real theatre.

    Saturday was dedicated to drama and Sunday was all about the music. Our students were fantastic offering solo drumming performances and taking the lead with solo music pieces.

    On Thursday 16th October all Year 11 students had the opportunity to visit Elland Road for the ‘Yorkshire Skill’s’ annual careers fair.

    Over 140 students participated in the trip. This enabled our learners the opportunity to talk with key recruitment agencies and post 16 establishment’s about their next career choices. Local Colleges, Sixth Forms and even Universities were there to help students understand the required qualifications and process they must undertake if they wish to follow their chosen career

    On Tuesday our new Year 7 parent’s had the opportunity to meet with Form Tutors. The night had a good attendance with parent’s discussing the progress of their child for the first half term.

    These meetings are vital to ensure our students transition well from our feeder Junior School’s to Manor Croft Academy.

  • Prefect Applications

    On Friday over 40 Students were put through their paces by participating in Prefect interviews. This was the second part of the selection process, following on from an initial letter of interest.

    The result will be out this week and although there will a lot of disappointed students they can be proud of their achievements today. Every student represented themselves in a remarkable fashion.

    Once the results are public the bar will be raised further to find out who will be Head Boy and Head Girl for the 2014-1

    Dear Families,

    It is with great regret that I am writing to inform you Mr Zafar Iqbal, our ICT and Business Studies teacher sadly passed away on Saturday 13th September. Mr Iqbal died as a result of a short respiratory illness that was made worse by the fact that he suffered from the condition cystic fibrosis. Our thoughts go out to Mr Iqbal’s family.
