Home Learning

Our home learning builds upon our learning journeys and provides pupils with opportunities to recall, retrieve and repeat knowledge to ensure that, over time, pupils can remember what they have been taught and apply that learning to new contexts. Home learning has several benefits such as supporting academic progress, developing subject knowledge, supporting exam preparation and accelerating classroom learning. We recognise the importance of structured home learning for our pupils therefore we include details about our expectations.

20 minutes reading per weekday evening

20 minutes of retrieval per weekday evening – via knowledge organiser or interactive learning platforms

If pupils are struggling with any aspect of their home learning then they should speak to their subject teacher or attend Homework club. Homework club is available daily as part of our enrichment program for KS3 and KS4. Here students can use school computers or have a quiet space to complete any aspect of their home learning.
