Getting Organised for Secondary School

Moving from primary to secondary school is a giant step in your journey to becoming a young adult and an exciting and significant event in the life of your child. You can be sure that Manor Croft Academy we will set you firmly on the path towards higher education.

When a child starts at secondary school, they are expected to cope with a variety of changes and new experiences, many of which demand skills that they have not had to use before.  The problem is that these skills do not spontaneously develop in children in the summer before they begin secondary school – like reading and writing, they have to be taught and our children need support in developing them.

We know that parental involvement has a strong and positive influence on a child’s level of attainment: the more parents get involved the higher the level of the student’s attainment. As a school we are committed to working closely with families to ensure we are able to provide the best education and provision for your child. This can be achieved through open communication and ensuring that we effectively share information, we have an open door policy and welcome any information or concerns you have to ensure we can effectively support your child in school. With this in mind this section of the website has been designed to help parents and carers support the learning of their children.
