Reading Routes

Manor Croft Academy are extremely excited to announce our new Reading Routes initiative! This exciting programme promotes reading away from the normal academy day. Each term, students embark on a reading journey through a specific genre. Year 7 will start with Crime and Mystery and Year 8 and 9 will follow suit by the Easter term. Assemblies take place at the beginning of the term to introduce all 6 texts. Students then pick their own novel, and their journey begins. As students complete their book, they return it to the library and then pick the next one from the same genre. 

This programme is an integral part of our multi-layered reading strategy at Manor Croft, and this is another way for our curriculum to tackle the long-term social disadvantage and the vocabulary deficit.
