Rugby Champion Schools Cup

Recently the Year 7 Boys’ Rugby team were entered into the Champion Schools Cup – their first major competition since joining Manor Croft Academy. The first round of this competition is the Kirklees finals which the boys won by competing against Mirfield Free Grammar, St John Fisher Catholic High School and Scisset Middle School. In this round the team achieved two wins and a draw. The boys were rightly ecstatic with their results and are excited to move to the next round of the competition. Their teacher and coach Mr Crook was particularly impressed with the teamwork and leadership on show throughout the Kirklees round.

They are now into the Yorkshire round of the Champion Cup where they will face Malet Lambert School from Hull, Crofton Academy from Wakefield and Brigshaw High School from Allerton Bywater. The standard of rugby will step up from the Kirklees round and Mr Crook and the team are determined to put in some strong performances and fight for their place in the next round of the cup.

Everyone at Manor Croft Academy wishes the team luck in the Yorkshire round of the cup and is looking forward to hearing about the performances the team manage to deliver!
