WW1 Workshops

On the 27th March, 114 Year 10 History students took part in a highly interactive and engaging all day workshop on the developments of medicine during World War One.

The students had plenty of opportunities to get dressed up in World War One uniforms to take part in several activities to find out what life was like for a soldier on the Western Front. From practicing how to put gas masks on, to rescuing soldiers in No-Man’s land and learning about how to answer GSCE questions.
All students that took part were a credit to Manor Croft Academy. They all enthusiastically engaged in the activities and were incredibly respectful to the three members of staff from Zeitgeist. They said that they had not come across such a welcoming, respectful and engaging group of students for a very long time.

This experience will prove vital for our Year 10 students when they sit their GSCE exam next summer. Through this workshop, they should be able to recall what they did during that day and then apply it to help them answer the questions in the exam to get the best grades possible.
We look forward to working with Zeitgeist soon and to continue having this workshop return to Manor Croft in the years to come.
