Year 7 Kirklees Athletics Meet

On Tuesday, 24th June the Year 7 Athletics team spent the afternoon at Spenborough Athletics Track competing in their first ever Kirklees Athletics Meet. The team was made up of 7 girls and 5 boys who competed against 24 other schools based in Kirklees. The team showed outstanding spirit and passion throughout the afternoon to claim a 16^th placed overall finish for the boys and an 18^th placed overall finish for the girls. 

The team showed great enthusiasm and dedication throughout the day despite a few nerves floating around – understandable considering this was their first time on a professional running track, complete with a stand and audience! Notable performances came from Beatrix S K who ran the 200 metres in 33.82 seconds for an overall 11^th placed finish, Marnie P who ran the 1500 metres in 7 minutes 11 seconds for an overall 9^th placed finish, Marnie P who jumped 7.21 metres in the triple jump for an overall 8^th placed finish, Phoebe D who threw the shot putt 6.30 metres for an overall 5^th placed finish, Oskar K who ran the 800 metres in 2.33 seconds for an overall 4^th placed finish and Finlay A who threw the shot putt 9.14 metres for an overall 8^th placed finish.
