Year 7 Kirklees Champion Schools Rugby Qualifiers

On Tuesday (14/10/25) the Year 7 Boys’ Rugby team attended the Kirklees Champion Schools Rugby Qualifiers. Here, they would take on St. John Fishers, Holmfirth High School and Salendine Nook High School in the hope of progressing to the next round.

In their first game against St. John Fishers the team came away with a 10-10 draw, a good result against a side who we rival closely every year! Scorers were: William (who played up with the Y8 team just last week) and Igor.

In their second game against Holmfirth High School the team started to work well together and it showed as they were victorious with a 26-4 win. William on the scoresheet again with 4 tries and Zackary adding a fifth!

In their final match against Salendine Nook, the team secured another victory, this time 28-4. Scorers this time out were William, Alfie with 2, Harvey and Oliver.

Well done to the team on two impressive victories and a hard-fought draw, securing their place in the next round! Everyone at the Academy is proud of the display by the team and looks forward to their future success!
