Subject Leader: Mr G Taylor

Our exciting and innovative science department aspires to develop an enthusiasm and passion for science in the students we teach. High-quality teaching is supported by interesting practical activities in which students are shown real-world examples and applications of the science they learn. Science at Manor Croft is taught in 6 state of the art Laboratories supported by a technician who is also a qualified science teacher.

Key Stage 3

KS3 Science is taught using a themed scheme of work which allows students to explore new ideas in a fun approach.

The names of our units include

Students are first assessed early in Year 7 with a baseline assessment test on skills based questions. Following this all KS3 students will sit tests each term to monitor their progress.  During lessons progress will be monitored by teachers based on assessed tasks or experimental work.

At the start of each topic students are provided with an Extended Learning Goal which contains a series of levelled tasks. Students need to achieve 20 points by the given deadline.
